2018 Flooring Trends we see!

The ongoing Real Estate market sales surge continues to boost selling prices for homes with both NEW hardwoods and NEW carpeting.

Hardwoods show that the popularity of greys, off whites and beige are still seeing good demand along coastal areas and southeastern warmer regions.  Grey colored hardwood floors have been strong the last four years and hardwood floors strong trends usually last five years, then something else comes along or so it seems.  Let's talk about Greige.

Greige = Grey + Beige

The grey trend started to evolve in 2017. Nowadays browns, beige and a touch of grey seem to be more in demand. Greige is the new buzzword. Just do a Pinterest or Instagram search of this color, and you will be led to hundreds of images of bedrooms and living spaces, all that look flawless with the help of this new trending hue.

Here are some recent floor installs that are all things 'Greige':

Engineered Hardwood flooring remains the selection of choice over actual on site installation and finishing. The reasons include faster completion schedules as the flooring is ready to be used immediately instead of waiting for finishes to cure and the increasingly vast selections of color, style, plank length and width. Also, the manufacturers are now offering 25 and 50 year warranties.

Great for any room in your home. We offer them in large range of colors and styles.

Carpet is about Color and Texture.  The shift in new products is toward layered color and soft texture in carpet. A combination of texture and pattern is even more popular because the neutral carpet favors incorporation of these new design possibilities -- more texture, some pattern, and even flecks of color adding interest to basic backgrounds applied and woven patterns offer organic shapes that coordinate easily with patterns in other furnishings. Strong colors are now available in multicolored loops, cut loop surfaces, and Berber styles as accents that minimize soil and vacuum marks while offering a more distinctive styling and fashion appeal.

New carpet is a great way to add comfort and style to your home in 2018.

Waterproof/Water Resistant Flooring

We are seeing more realistic and durable waterproof/water resistant products being made. There are a variety of different types of flooring in this category and we are excited about all of the new and very stylish options that are available. These are great for basements or even your whole house. Pets, kids, and everyday life can be pretty messy; luxury vinyl planks and the like are shaping up to be the best option for many homeowners. We are loving the mixed width rustic looking vinyl planks right now and we predict that will continue into 2018.

Tile (for bathroom, kitchen, or any room in your home!)

We have lately loved using 12 x 24 tiles in recent projects; we find that they are unique and make any room look bigger. In terms of color and pattern, the concrete-looking porcelain tile trend is one that we project will be very popular in the new year. Concrete floor tiles are extremely durable and easy to clean, and they resist water when properly sealed. Concrete works well with radiant heating, and the surface absorbs heat to cut energy bills.

Printed patterned tile is going to be a big thing in 2018, but more important than being "trendy", it's a tile and flooring choice that is timeless. It's important when selecting a patterned tile for either a backsplash or a floor to consider the style and architecture of your home. We tend to be advocates for neutral colors when it comes to things like flooring and backsplashes because they tend to offer more design options even where pattern is concerned. Colorful tile is exciting and can be great for an accent area, but it's a bit more of a commitment. So be sure you are truly in love with the colors you are committing to and will love them for a long time.
